Old Fashioned Strawberry Cake
A few weeks ago Louie was asked to submit an old fashioned strawberry cake recipe complete with photos to HGTV.com. No problem there, Louie whipped up a scrumptious 6 layer cake and I photographed it. HGTV released an article with my photo and his recipe yesterday. Check out the link! http://www.hgtvgardens.com/

Star Wars Death Star Birthday Cake
My friend Lara has two sons that have birthdays right around the same time and they are also HUGE star wars fans. She decided to have a joint birthday party for them and requested that we make a death star cake for the boys. We took our best shot at a spherical cake and this is what we came up with...

Super Hero Cake
Our nephew Cameron celebrated his 4th birthday at the end of July and is very much into the Avenger super heroes. The cake we designed was simple - it was basically a "stage display" for the limited edition figures we purchased to go on the cake. The cake was 3 layers of marbled chocolate and vanilla with vanilla buttercream and fondant. Cameron had a blast at this party and even got a visit in with Spiderman and The Hulk!

Totally Pink and Sassy
The last cake that we made at the end of August was for a twin's first birthday party. This contract was the biggest one we had taken on since we have been doing cakes on the side. The cake stood almost 2 feet high - 3 tier layered vanilla/vanilla cakes covered with fondant. We also made the individual "smash" cakes in the shape and design of small handbags. The clients LOVED it - I wish we were able to stick around and get photos of the babies with their cakes. | |
