Creative Update

New side business!

I have recently started selling custom, hand-made hairbows. I didn't even know how to make a bow till a while back I tried my hand at making one for Bella and found that I could do it and actually enjoyed it. As I learned different techniques and made a few for friends with little girls I was told that I should make it a side business and I am finally taking that advice! I'm starting small, word of mouth, posts on FB and IG - one day I might make it to Etsy.

I chose to use my own daughter's name as the name of the business - it's beautiful and flows well!

Here are a few of my creations:

I'm looking forward to a women's expo this month at Hopewell Baptist church and St. Catherine's craft fair that I will be participating in Nov! Who knows? I may do well :)

If you know anyone who loves to adorn their little girl with bows or needs a cute gift idea - let me know! You can choose from something I already designed or I can make a custom order.

Creativity at work

[Kennesaw State University Summer Magazine]
My turn to design the magazine came and went - I really enjoy the freedom of creativity with this project; I have already received great reviews so far since it came back from the printer. Click here to view the entire publication online.

Some of my favorite spreads:

[Athletics]
This year's look that I designed for athletics is really bold. The concept behind the one player (mostly in the shadows) is to show anonymity, it could be any player on the team, The use of fog/smoke is to symbolize the "calm before the storm". The player is looking at the arena where the game is about to be played and anticipating the "fight". The phrase used on the posters, "Bring the Fight", is in the KSU fight song. Basketball chose to show multiple playerd (requested by the coaches) so the design was altered to show a similar feel but having the players in plain view facing forward toward the "audience". The posters have been well received and I am thrilled to see them all around campus and in local community stores.

More to come soon....

Bella's First Trip to Disney World [Part 2]

Hollywood Studios (aka MGM)

Two days following our visit at Magic Kingdom we spent the day at Hollywood Studios with my mom and dad. We enjoyed another beautiful sunny day in Florida and didn't waste a minute of opportunity to pack in all the character meet and greets, attractions and shows that we could before heading to the firework display (Fantasmic) that evening. This was the park that we actually got Bella in to see Mickey, Minnie and his buddies Donald and Daisy. (CHECK!)

Animal Kingdom & Epcot

This was the first time any of us had experienced Animal Kingdom, somehow it was always skipped when we would visit Disney when I was a child. It was a really neat park with lots to see and do.  As recommended, we made sure we got to experience the Safari - it was the best part of the day.

Awesome parade - really interesting animal characters operated by people dancing

Meeting Elsa & Anna

Our day at Epcot started waiting at the gates at 8:15... Right at 9am we ran (with Bella in a stroller) all the way from the gates of the park to the country of Norway just so that we could get in line to meet Elsa and Anna where they were set up for meet and greets. As we got in line our wait was 2 hours and within thirty minutes the line had filled up and reached to the max wait time of 6 hours! We were so glad that we ran to get in line as this was the highlight of Bella's day... we just HAD to meet Elsa and Anna from her new favorite disney movie FROZEN. While we waited Louie and I took turns switching out of line and took Bella  to look around and not stand in line so long. They had a neat replica of a church in "Norway" that had drawings, paintings, and costumes of the inspiration of the different characters in the movie. Once we finally got in the meet and greet room Bella was shy and a bit in shock of meeting the princesses. Once she got comfortable enough she asked them, "Do you wanna build a snowman?" and their reaction was priceless! (see video below). Such a sweet moment with the characters, I'll never forget her face.

Asking them, "Do you wanna build a snowman?"

no snow? no problem, they built a snowman with their fists
